Ajax reportedly in talks with Sunderland over Simon Adingra transfer

Ajax has reportedly entered negotiations with Sunderland over a deal for Simon Adingra, the 24-year-old Ivorian winger who has had a restless time since arriving at the Stadium of Light just over a year ago. Adingra joined Sunderland from Brighton in July 2025 for an initial fee of £18 million, with add-ons that could push the total to £21 million. Things didn’t exactly go to plan. Limited appearances at Sunderland led the club to loan him out to AS Monaco in early 2026. The Monaco stint produced modest numbers: 17 appearances, 3 goals, and 2 assists. Monaco passed on activating their permanent purchase option. Adingra returned to Sunderland, a player contracted until June 2030 but without a clear path to consistent first-team football.
