Amazon’s $13B Anthropic bet balloons to $190B, reshaping the AI infrastructure race

Amazon poured roughly $13 billion into Anthropic. That stake is now worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $190 billion. The investment, which started with an $8 billion initial commitment and grew by another $5 billion announced in April 2026, has ballooned as Anthropic’s valuation surged to $965 billion following its Series H funding round in May 2026. How the numbers stack up As of March 31, 2026, Amazon’s stake in Anthropic was valued at approximately $74 billion. Fast forward just a couple months, and secondary market trading plus expectations around Anthropic’s forthcoming IPO have pushed that estimate to between $180 billion and $240 billion. There’s more money on the table, too. Amazon has the option to deploy up to an additional $20 billion into Anthropic, contingent on performance milestones.
