Amkor posts record Q2 revenue of $1.9B as AI chip packaging demand surges

Amkor Technology just posted a quarter that makes its trajectory pretty clear. The semiconductor packaging and test company reported Q2 2026 net sales of $1.90 billion, a 26% jump from $1.51 billion a year ago, with Q3 guidance pointing to revenues between $1.95 billion and $2.05 billion. The numbers behind the record Q2 net income came in at $174 million, translating to $0.70 in earnings per share. The communications segment, which includes networking and data center connectivity chips, accounted for roughly 42% of Q2 sales. Computing revenue, driven specifically by data center and AI applications, hit record levels during the quarter. Amkor’s Q3 guidance is equally aggressive. The company expects revenues of $1.95 billion to $2.05 billion, with gross margins projected between 18.5% and 19.5%. Net income for Q3 is anticipated to land between $180 million and $205 million, or $0.72 to $0.82 in diluted EPS. The full-year 2026 capital expenditure budget sits at $2.5 billion to $3.0 billion.
