Anthropic wants Claude to do more than write emails and debug code. It wants the AI to help make medicine. On October 27, 2026, the company detailed progress across collaborations with six organizations using Claude and its Claude Science workbench for drug development. It also disclosed its own in-house drug programs. Most of that work is still preclinical, which means nothing has reached a patient yet. Who is in, and what they built The partner roster mixes big pharma, venture capital and startups. It includes BigHat Biosciences, Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS), Divergence Labs, Enveda, Generate Biomedicines and The Column Group. The projects span several stages of the drug pipeline. Most sit in early phases such as hit generation and lead optimization, along with regulatory documentation. Generate Biomedicines reported that Claude helped it produce genetic instructions for a CAR-T therapy that were approximately 70% shorter. CAR-T treatments reprogram a patient’s own immune cells to attack disease. Shorter instructions can make that engineering job more manageable. Divergence Labs used Claude to generate approximately 35,000 antibody designs aimed at food allergies. BigHat Bioscience...
