Crystal Palace’s attempt to land one of Ligue 1’s most coveted midfielders has hit a wall. AS Monaco has turned down a verbal bid from the south London club for Lamine Camara, the 22-year-old Senegal international who has become a linchpin in Monaco’s midfield since arriving in 2024. The rejected offer reportedly came in at around €50 million. Monaco, for their part, has set a price tag in the €60-65 million range and shows no signs of budging. When you have a player under contract until 2029, patience isn’t a virtue. It’s a negotiating strategy. Why Monaco can afford to say no Camara has racked up roughly 70 Ligue 1 appearances for Monaco, establishing himself as one of the more dynamic central midfielders in French football. At 22, his trajectory is still climbing, which means his valuation is more likely to increase than decrease if he stays put for another season.
