ASML secures commitments from top chipmakers for new production gear

The world’s most important company you’ve probably never thought much about just had a very good quarter. ASML, the Dutch maker of the machines that make the chips that power everything from your phone to the latest AI clusters, has locked in substantial commitments from the biggest names in semiconductor manufacturing, including SK Hynix, TSMC, Intel, and Samsung. The headline number comes from SK Hynix, which placed an order worth roughly $8 billion for EUV lithography tools in March 2026. That is the largest single disclosed order for mass production equipment in the company’s history, covering high-bandwidth memory and advanced DRAM production through 2027.
