The appointment comes after Diego Cocca’s sudden departure just days before the Apertura 2026 tournament, leaving the Guadalajara-based club scrambling for a replacement at the worst possible time.

Crespo, who built a six-title managerial resume highlighted by winning the 2020 Copa Sudamericana with Defensa y Justicia, has been described as a “young manager with a European profile.” Multiple outlets, including AM and Marca, confirmed that negotiations had reached advanced stages.
