Barcelona targets €75M Real Sociedad attacker as summer spending spree continues

1 hour ago 1

Barcelona is apparently not done shopping. Fresh off an €80 million move for Anthony Gordon, the club has turned its attention to Real Sociedad, where a winger with a €75 million release clause has become the latest name on the Catalan wishlist.

What we know about the target

The identity of the €75 million winger hasn’t been publicly nailed down with certainty. What is clear is that Real Sociedad has at least one attacker whose release clause sits at that figure, and that Premier League clubs are also circling the same player.

Separately, Real Sociedad captain Mikel Oyarzabal has also been linked with a move to the Camp Nou. The 29-year-old Spanish international carries a reported valuation of around €25 million. Oyarzabal and the €75 million target appear to be distinct pursuits, meaning Barcelona could theoretically be eyeing multiple players from the same club.

As of June 17, 2026, no official deal has been confirmed for either target.

Barcelona’s summer spending in context

Adding a €75 million winger on top of the Anthony Gordon deal would bring Barcelona’s summer investment to at least €155 million before factoring in the potential Oyarzabal deal.

Barcelona’s ability to complete these moves is reportedly contingent on selling existing squad members first, generating both transfer fees and wage bill relief before finalizing incoming moves.

Real Sociedad appear open to doing business this summer. The Basque club is reportedly willing to part with goalkeeper Álex Remiro for €8 to €10 million. Whether that willingness extends to losing their captain and a €75 million attacker in the same window is another question.

What this means for Barcelona’s 2026/27 squad

Oyarzabal would bring experience and versatility as a forward who has captained Real Sociedad and represented Spain at the highest level. His €25 million price tag makes him considerably more modest than the other names being discussed.

Competition from Premier League clubs adds another wrinkle, as English sides may be willing to pay the €75 million release clause without the same preconditions Barcelona faces around requiring sales first.
