Binance delists ICX, marking end of an era for Korean Ethereum

Binance announced on August 20 that it will remove ICON’s ICX token from all spot trading pairs on September 3, 2026, at 03:00 UTC. For a project once dubbed the “Korean Ethereum” and celebrated as one of the defining moonshots of the 2017 ICO boom, the delisting reads less like breaking news and more like a eulogy. ICX is being removed alongside SCRT and STORJ, two other tokens that failed to maintain the liquidity and trading activity Binance requires to justify a listing. Users who don’t move or sell their ICX before November 4, 2026, may have their holdings automatically converted to stablecoins. From 100x to zero relevance ICON launched in 2017 with a vision that sounded genuinely revolutionary at the time: connect disparate blockchains into one interoperable network, starting with South Korea’s fragmented financial and institutional systems.
