Bloomberg LP acquires Canoe Intelligence to enhance private markets data

Bloomberg LP is buying Canoe Intelligence, the AI-driven platform that automates private markets data collection for institutional investors, wealth managers, and family offices. The acquisition, announced on July 29, puts Bloomberg squarely in the middle of one of finance’s fastest-growing and most opaque corners: private markets, where assets now range between an estimated $15 trillion and $22 trillion. What Canoe actually does Founded in 2018 and headquartered in New York, Canoe uses AI to extract, organize, and deliver data from private markets documents. The platform processes roughly 1.5 million documents per month across more than 44,000 private funds. Its client base includes over 500 institutions collectively managing more than $11 trillion in assets. The deal didn’t come out of nowhere. Bloomberg had already integrated Canoe’s technology into Bloomberg PORT Enterprise back on April 8, creating automated data flows for comprehensive portfolio analysis across public and private holdings.
