Boeing engineers reject contract and authorize strike

1 hour ago 2

Members of Boeing’s engineers union rejected a proposed contract and authorized a strike, raising the risk of disruption as the planemaker works to certify key aircraft models.

The Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace said most members of its professional and technical unit voted against the contract and in favor of strike authorization. The union will survey members about what they need to accept the proposal.

Boeing is in the final stages of certifying its delayed 737 Max 10 and 77X models, and a strike by engineers and technicians could affect that work.

SPEEA represents engineers, scientists, pilots, technicians, analysts and other professionals in five states. It does not represent Boeing production workers. Boeing did not immediately comment.
