Andreessen Horowitz, the venture capital firm that built its brand on crypto bets and Web3 conviction, is anchoring the IPO of a biotech company that has exactly zero blockchain references in its SEC filings. Braveheart Bio has filed to raise up to $318.8 million in an initial public offering on Nasdaq, and a16z Bio + Health is the lead backer. The company, which was founded just eight months ago in November 2025, is targeting a valuation of up to $1.2 billion. For a firm with no approved drugs and a lead candidate still in Phase 2 trials, that’s a bold ask. What Braveheart actually does Braveheart Bio is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, or HCM. In English: it’s developing an oral pill for a condition where the heart muscle gets abnormally thick, making it harder for the heart to pump blood. The company’s lead asset is BHB-1893, a cardiac myosin inhibitor in-licensed from Jiangsu Hengrui Pharmaceuticals, a major Chinese drugmaker.
