Brentford agrees deal to sign Jaidon Anthony from Burnley for reported £17-20M fee

Brentford FC has reportedly reached an agreement to sign winger Jaidon Anthony from Burnley in a deal valued between £17 million and £20 million. The 26-year-old forward, who scored eight goals last season, is expected to sign a five-year contract with the west London club.

Brentford submitted a renewed bid for Anthony around July 2, after initial approaches in late June. Burnley, a recently promoted club, held firm on their valuation near the £20 million mark. That’s a significant sum for a player who joined Burnley on loan from AFC Bournemouth before making the move permanent.

Eight goals in a single season made Anthony one of the more productive wingers in the league. His dual English and Jamaican citizenship adds international versatility, which clubs increasingly price into transfer valuations.

The five-year contract length allows Brentford to amortize the transfer fee across the contract’s duration, which matters enormously under the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, spreading the accounting hit over five years instead of absorbing it all at once.

For Burnley, receiving close to £20 million for a single player while newly promoted is significant. Newly promoted clubs historically face a brutal financial calculus: spend aggressively to survive, or bank the broadcasting revenue and accept the risk of relegation.

As of July 5, no final agreement has been publicly confirmed. The Anthony transfer is expected to be finalized in the coming days.
