Venezuela is not the first place that comes to mind when global venture capital firms go shopping for fintech investments. But Cashea, a buy-now-pay-later platform founded in Caracas in 2022, just pulled in $100 million across two financing rounds.
The raise comes in two parts: a $40 million Series A closed in March 2026, and a $60 million Series B closed in June 2026. Together, they represent one of the largest fintech fundraises ever in Venezuela, a country whose financial system has spent the better part of a decade in freefall.
What Cashea actually does
The pitch is straightforward: let Venezuelans buy things in installments, interest-free, through an app that connects them directly to local merchants. Years of hyperinflation and economic contraction wiped out most of the formal credit infrastructure. Banks stopped lending. Credit cards became relics. For most Venezuelans, if you could not pay for something outright, you simply did not buy it.
Merchants on its platform extend credit to customers through the app, and Cashea provides insurance against defaults on the back end. The customer pays in installments. The merchant gets paid. Cashea takes a fee. No interest charged to the buyer, no bank required by anyone.
Cashea now processes more than one BNPL transaction per second and has partnered with more than 3,500 merchants across more than 25 Venezuelan cities. Roughly 35% of Venezuelan adults are active on the platform. Cashea’s non-performing loan rate sits below 2%.
Who is writing the checks
The $40 million Series A included $20 million in equity and $20 million in debt, with Architect Capital providing the financing and Spice Expeditions leading the round. The $60 million Series B was led by FinSight Ventures, with participation from Endeavor Catalyst and a collection of Latin American venture capital firms.
The company also claims its transaction volume now accounts for more than 3% of Venezuela’s GDP. CEO Pedro Vallenilla founded Cashea in 2022.
