CFTC task force to host forums on AI and emerging financial technology

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission is launching a new public forum series to examine technologies transforming financial markets, starting with artificial intelligence and agentic finance, according to a Monday press release. The inaugural forum is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026.

The Frontier Forum Series, organized by the CFTC’s Innovation Task Force, will bring together public- and private-sector participants for discussions on financial technology and evolving market structures, the CFTC stated.

The agency said the forums would explore ways to encourage responsible innovation while maintaining protections for market participants and the integrity and resilience of US markets. According to Chairman Michael Selig, the CFTC should engage directly with those developing and studying the technologies driving changes in financial markets.
