Charles Hoskinson helped popularize smart contracts on Cardano. At TOKEN2049 in Singapore, he spent time criticizing them. The Cardano founder used the stage to promote what he calls the Night Frame, a framework that pairs zero-knowledge proofs, multi-party computation and trusted execution on Midnight, the privacy-focused partner chain built by Input Output Global (IOG). What Hoskinson brought to Singapore TOKEN2049 ran on October 7-8, 2026. Hoskinson used the event to push Midnight to the front of the Cardano conversation, even where the rest of the ecosystem seemed not to. He took aim at the community-funded Cardano booth, which did not feature Midnight. Hoskinson called the project the ecosystem’s “Where’s Waldo?” Zero-knowledge proofs let someone prove a statement is true without revealing the data behind it. Think of showing a bouncer you are over 21 without handing over your birthday, address and middle name. Multi-party computation lets several parties jointly calculate a result while each keeps its inputs private. Picture coworkers figuring out their average salary without anyone revealing what they earn. Trusted execution environments are sealed-off areas of hardware wher...
