Cloudflare launches Kitesurf, a browser built for AI agents instead of humans

Browsers have spent three decades optimizing for one user: you. Cloudflare just built one that doesn’t care about you at all. The web infrastructure giant introduced Kitesurf, a stateless, cloud-hosted browser designed exclusively for AI agents. It strips away everything a human needs from a browser, things like tabs, extensions, and pixel-perfect rendering, and replaces it with a lean engine purpose-built for automation. The result is a browser that consumes 3 to 7 times less CPU and memory than Chromium when performing common agent tasks. What Kitesurf actually does Kitesurf runs entirely on Cloudflare Workers using V8 isolates, the same JavaScript engine that powers Chrome but deployed in a way that prioritizes machine-to-machine interaction over anything resembling a human browsing session. The browser is built with Rust and WebAssembly. It has already passed over 215,000 Web Platform Tests, which means it can render and interact with the vast majority of the modern web despite being roughly 12 weeks old.
