Codex expands ChatGPT extension support to Microsoft Edge

OpenAI’s Codex, the coding agent baked into ChatGPT, now officially supports Microsoft Edge through its Computer Use feature. Edge is the first browser outside of Chrome to get the treatment, and it arrives with a new “More browsers” section in the Codex settings. What actually changed The Computer Use feature lets Codex perform tasks across local applications and web sessions after users grant permissions. Think of it as giving the AI agent the ability to read webpages, navigate between tabs, and execute actions, all within the browser environment. Previously, that capability was Chrome-only. Now Edge gets the same treatment, meaning Codex can access context across tabs and automate browser-based actions in Microsoft’s default browser. The update is accessible through a new “More browsers” section in the Codex settings. For now, Edge is the only browser listed there, but the naming convention suggests more options are coming.
