Coinbase has flipped the GRASS-USD trading pair into limit-only mode on both Coinbase Exchange and Coinbase Advanced, restricting traders to placing and canceling limit orders while blocking market orders entirely. The move came on August 26 as spot trading for the Grass token officially went live on the platform. How the launch sequence works The process began with a 10-minute initial auction phase designed to stabilize the order book before any real trading commenced. After that window closed, the pair shifted into limit-only mode, which is where it currently sits. In practical terms, limit-only mode means traders can set a specific price at which they want to buy or sell, but they can’t fire off market orders that execute instantly at whatever the current price happens to be. The exchange has deployed this exact framework for other recent launches, including GROVE-USD and DRB-USD.
