Dell COO reports customer count surpasses 6,500 amid broadening demand

Dell Technologies’ AI infrastructure business just crossed another milestone. COO Jeff Clarke confirmed that the company’s customer count has exceeded 6,500, with demand accelerating across both cloud providers and traditional enterprise buyers. That number tells a story of remarkably fast adoption. As recently as May 2026, Dell reported 5,000 AI Factory customers in its Q1 FY2027 earnings. That figure was itself up from 4,000 in February, representing more than 50% growth over just six months. The jump to 6,500 suggests the pace hasn’t slowed. The numbers behind the momentum Dell’s Q1 FY2027 results painted a picture of a company struggling to keep up with its own success. The company booked $24.4 billion in AI orders during the quarter and recognized $16.1 billion in AI server revenue. The real eye-catcher, though, was the backlog. Dell ended Q1 with a record $51.3 billion in unfilled AI orders. Dell has repeatedly revised its revenue forecasts upward.
