Dogecoin was built as a joke, then became a payments coin, and is now auditioning for a role in decentralized finance. DogeOS, a new application layer from the team behind the MyDoge wallet, launched its public testnet on September 30, 2026. The testnet goes by the name Chikyū and runs on chain ID 6281971. Its pitch is simple: give developers a place to build smart contract apps that settle back to Dogecoin, without rewriting the original chain’s rulebook. What DogeOS actually does DogeOS is an EVM-compatible zero-knowledge rollup. Transactions get bundled and processed off the main chain. Cryptographic proofs then vouch that the bundled activity was valid. EVM-compatible means the layer speaks the same programming language as Ethereum, so developers familiar with Ethereum tooling can, in principle, deploy on DogeOS without starting from scratch. The speed targets are the headline numbers. The testnet aims for roughly 300 transactions per second with block times of about 3 seconds. Compare that with Dogecoin’s base layer, which handles around 30 transactions per second and produces blocks roughly once a minute. If the targets hold, that’s about a tenfold throughput jump and blocks ...
