DTCC leads Wall Street firms in blockchain trading experiment with live tokenized trades

For a few hours on July 15, Wall Street stopped talking about blockchain and actually used it. The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation, the plumbing behind nearly every US securities trade, ran live production transactions using tokenized versions of real stocks, ETFs, and Treasurys. More than 30 firms participated, ranging from JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs to crypto-native companies like Chainlink, Circle, and Fireblocks. This wasn’t a sandbox exercise or a PowerPoint pitch. These were actual trades, cleared and settled through DTCC’s Depository Trust Company subsidiary, involving assets that institutional investors recognize instantly: Russell 1000 equities, Invesco QQQ, and the SPDR S&P 500 ETF. Think of it as a dress rehearsal for October, when DTCC plans to flip the switch on its full commercial DTC Tokenization Service.
