On September 20, and again at the end of October, a new blockchain will read Bitcoin's ledger and credit every bitcoin balance with the same amount of a new coin called ECX. Your bitcoin stays untouched and does not move. All that matters is who controls the private keys to your balance at the moment of the snapshot. The dates circulating since late August are September 20 and October 31. We ran the numbers ourselves. The schedule for this fork follows Bitcoin block heights; the calendar days are only derived from them. The three heights named are exact boundaries of difficulty periods. From the block rate we measured, the second snapshot falls into a window that closes only on November 1. Anyone planning this date to the hour is planning against a block height rather than a day in the calendar.
