The Saudi Pro League’s summer shopping spree has a new name on the receipt. Eduard Spertsyan, the 25-year-old Armenian attacking midfielder and captain of his national team, is moving from FC Krasnodar to Al Ahli in a deal worth €25 million.
For context, that fee matches Spertsyan’s reported market valuation, meaning Al Ahli paid exactly what Krasnodar asked.
Who is Eduard Spertsyan?
Born June 7, 2000, Spertsyan captains Armenia’s national team, has earned over 25 caps at international level, and operates as an attacking midfielder.
Al Ahli was not alone in this pursuit. Al Nassr and Al Hilal both registered interest in the player since late May 2026.
The proposed contract runs three years, at approximately €10 million per season, plus performance bonuses. Krasnodar’s contract with Spertsyan ran until at least 2029, so they weren’t forced to sell. The €25 million fee is what it took to convince a Russian club to part with its most recognizable attacking talent ahead of schedule.
His father confirmed publicly that an offer existed but stressed that the player’s preference was to remain in Europe. His agent echoed similar sentiments.
What this means for the market and for Al Ahli
For players still under long-term contracts at clubs in Russia or other markets with limited European pathways, this transfer sets a reference point. A €25 million fee, a three-year deal, and €10 million per season is now a documented benchmark.
For Krasnodar, the €25 million represents a clean exit on a player they would likely have lost on a free transfer or at a discount in future windows given the narrowing commercial appeal of the Russian league.
