Fenway Sports Group sells minority stake in Liverpool FC to consortium including Jeff Bezos

Jeff Bezos is getting into English football. Fenway Sports Group, the American investment firm that has owned Liverpool FC since 2010, is finalizing a deal to sell roughly 30% of the club to a consortium that includes the Amazon founder, valuing the Premier League giant at somewhere between $6 billion and $8 billion. The stake is priced at approximately £1.35 billion, or about $1.8 billion. To put that in perspective, FSG bought the entire club in 2010 for around £300 million. That’s roughly a twentyfold increase in valuation in a decade and a half. Who’s at the table The consortium is led by Amit Bhatia, but the headline names are the ones that matter for the broader sports investment landscape. Bezos is joined by Eduardo Saverin, the Facebook co-founder who has since built a sprawling investment portfolio through his firm B Capital. FSG, led by John Henry, isn’t walking away from Liverpool.
