G2 Esports’ BrokenBlade discusses team’s growth ahead of MSI

1 hour ago 1

Sergen “BrokenBlade” Çelik wants you to know that G2 Esports isn’t done cooking. The toplaner sat down ahead of continued Mid-Season Invitational play to talk about where his team stands, and the message was clear: strong potential, but the work isn’t finished.

BrokenBlade acknowledged that G2 has grown considerably since their first stand at the tournament. But growth and destination are two different things, and he stressed that the team “must improve themselves” to reach the level they’re targeting.

From rocky start to legitimate contender

G2’s MSI journey hasn’t been a straight line. The team fought through a challenging early stretch during play-ins before finding their footing and advancing deeper into the bracket. The path forward brought them face-to-face with some of the best rosters on the planet, including Gen.G.

The team has been putting in work through warmup scrims that focus on both individual skill refinement and collective synergy.

Roster stability as a competitive edge

One of the more interesting threads in BrokenBlade’s comments is the emphasis on how long this particular G2 roster has been together. The group has played as a unit for almost two years now, which in esports terms is practically a geological era.

G2 Esports has long been one of the LEC’s strongest organizations, consistently performing well in the European regional scene. G2’s stated goal of elevating Western esports competitiveness on the global stage is ambitious but not delusional.

It’s worth noting that G2 Esports has not ventured into blockchain, cryptocurrency, or NFT territory as part of their business strategy. The organization appears fully committed to traditional esports revenue models: sponsorships, merchandise, media rights, and competitive prize pools.
