Jeff Currie spent decades as one of Wall Street’s most influential voices on commodities, calling oil price moves from the research desk at Goldman Sachs. Now he wants to actually pump the stuff out of the ground. Currie is co-founding 1947 Oil & Gas Plc, a new exploration and production company planning to raise £50 million (roughly $67 million) through an IPO on London’s AIM market. The listing is targeted for August 2026, with shares expected to price at approximately 10 pence each. From analyst to operator He led Goldman Sachs’ commodities research division, becoming one of the most quoted strategists in the energy world. He later moved to Carlyle Group and currently serves as an executive at Abaxx Markets, a commodities-focused exchange platform. Currie’s co-founders include investor Ivan Murphy and Executive Chairman Tim Duncan. The company has already made its first move by acquiring Renaissance Offshore LLC, a small but active producer in the Gulf of Mexico.
