Google launches AI voice features in Gmail, Docs, and Keep

Google just turned its most-used productivity apps into something closer to a personal assistant you can actually talk to. The company announced Gmail Live, Docs Live, and a revamped voice mode for Google Keep at its I/O event on May 19, all powered by Gemini AI and designed to let users interact with their data through natural conversation. The features are rolling out first to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers on Android and iOS in the US this summer, with a Workspace business preview to follow. Limited beta testing for Gmail Live and Keep was already underway by late June. What the new voice features actually do Gmail Live lets users ask spoken questions about their inbox and get synthesized, context-aware answers. Instead of typing “school events” into a search bar and scrolling through dozens of threads, you can ask something like “What events does my son Jack have in school?” and get a compiled response drawn from your emails.
