Hugging Face debuts $399 Microduck waddling robot

Hugging Face, best known as the GitHub of AI models, wants to be the place where you also buy your next robot. The company unveiled Microduck on August 27, 2026, a $399 waddling robot that continues its surprisingly rapid expansion into consumer and educational hardware. From model hub to robot shelf Hugging Face’s hardware ambitions did not appear overnight. The company acquired Pollen Robotics in April 2025, picking up an established team with experience in expressive humanoid design. The first product out of that foundation was the Reachy Mini, a compact 11-inch desktop robot launched in July 2025 at a starting price of $299. It shipped with more than 15 pre-built demo behaviors and full Python programmability, targeting developers, educators, and hobbyists who want to experiment with physical AI without a research budget. By May 2026, Hugging Face had sold roughly 10,000 Reachy Mini units and launched a dedicated app store carrying over 200 apps.
