Indonesia set to appoint first woman to lead Bank Indonesia

Indonesia is on the verge of a milestone that’s been 73 years in the making. President Prabowo Subianto nominated Destry Damayanti as the sole candidate for governor of Bank Indonesia on August 10, positioning her to become the first woman to permanently lead the central bank since its founding in 1953. The nomination follows the resignation of Perry Warjiyo, who stepped down on July 27 after serving as governor since May 2018.
