Injective proposes fixed gas fees to make DeFi trading costs predictable

Injective wants traders to know what a transaction will cost before they send it. The DeFi-focused Layer-1 blockchain is moving toward a governance proposal that would set fixed gas values for messages in its exchange module. The feature is already running on Injective’s testnet. It still needs a governance vote before it reaches mainnet. What the proposal actually changes Today, the gas a transaction consumes depends on how much computation it requires. Gas is the unit that measures the work a blockchain does to process an action. Injective’s proposal swaps the meter for a flat fare. Specific exchange actions would carry predefined gas amounts instead of floating with computational load. The covered actions include order placements, cancellations, and subaccount transfers. One concrete example: MsgCreateDerivativeLimitOrder, the message used to place a limit order on a derivatives market, would be fixed at 330,000 gas. A trader would know that number in advance, every time. The design is meant to keep spam protections intact. Fixed pricing does not mean free pricing, so flooding the network with junk orders still carries a cost. Injective’s minimum gas price sits at 160,000,000 IN...
