IonQ used its Investor Day at the New York Stock Exchange on September 8 to lay out a blueprint that, if it holds, would make the company one of the most vertically integrated players in quantum computing. The centerpiece: a new product line called Superion, starting with a 256-qubit trapped-ion system, and a foundry business built on top of its recently acquired SkyWater Technology. The company also bumped its 2026 revenue guidance to between $450 million and $460 million. For context, that’s a massive leap from a prior projection of roughly $285 million, with the delta largely attributable to SkyWater’s semiconductor manufacturing revenue now flowing through IonQ’s books. The Superion roadmap The Superion 256 is IonQ’s first entry in the new product family. It’s a 256-qubit platform built on the company’s trapped-ion architecture, which uses individual atoms suspended by electromagnetic fields as the basic units of computation. Customer deliveries for the Superion 256 are slated to begin in 2027, with orders already being accepted.
