Tron says it is ready to defend itself against computers that don’t fully exist yet. Founder Justin Sun said on October 10, 2026 that the network can move post-quantum cryptography to mainnet whenever it chooses. The claim rests on months of testing on Tron’s Nile testnet, where quantum-resistant digital signatures have been live since July. “We’re ready to bring quantum resistance to mainnet at any time,” Sun said in a post on X. Mainnet activation still requires separate approvals from Tron’s governance bodies. What actually went live on Nile The testnet upgrade arrived on July 2, 2026, through Committee Proposal No. 20628. It shipped with the GreatVoyage-v4.8.2-PQ1-build1 release. Two signature algorithms are involved, and both carry NIST standardization. The first is FN-DSA-512, built on a scheme called Falcon-512. The second is ML-DSA-44, based on Dilithium, which was added shortly after FN-DSA-512 went live. The new signatures reach transaction signing, block production, peer-to-peer handshakes between nodes, and smart contract verification inside the Tron Virtual Machine. For now, everything stays opt-in and confined to the testnet. Mainnet functions are untouched, and exist...
