Lightning Labs wants Bitcoin to move more than just Bitcoin. Its newest toolkit, Wavelength, is now being wired to carry Taproot Assets alongside sats. The company has detailed how Wavelength’s virtual transaction outputs, or VTXOs, can hold Taproot Assets. The approach relies on compact proofs and client-side validation to tie an asset’s history back to a commitment recorded on-chain. That matters because Lightning Labs has said stablecoin support is on the roadmap. Before you can send a digital dollar through a batched off-chain system, you need a way to prove it is real. What Wavelength actually does Wavelength is a toolkit and SDK built to drop self-custodial Bitcoin payments into apps and AI agents. It went live on Bitcoin mainnet on October 23, 2026, following an alpha phase that started in July 2026. Under the hood, it uses Ark-style batching. Think of it like a carpool for transactions: many transfers ride together in one coordinated trip, rather than each taking its own expensive car on-chain. The building blocks of that carpool are VTXOs. These are virtual outputs that let users make instant off-chain transfers while keeping a path back to the base chain. Users can leave ...
