Manchester United is reportedly preparing a €60 million bid for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery, a move that signals just how aggressively the INEOS-backed administration is pursuing its midfield overhaul. The 20-year-old Frenchman has been on United’s radar since at least 2023, and it appears the club is finally ready to make its move.
PSG reportedly values Zaire-Emery at around £68 million, roughly £17 million more than United’s opening bid of £51 million (the euro equivalent of their €60 million offer).
A lowball opener or a negotiation tactic?
The report, which originated from French outlet Top Mercato, frames United’s bid as more of a temperature check than a serious attempt to get the deal done. The club wants to gauge PSG’s willingness to sell before committing to the kind of fee that would actually move the needle.
Zaire-Emery’s contract situation gives PSG all the leverage they could want. His current deal runs through June 2029, with an option to extend for an additional year.
Why United wants Zaire-Emery so badly
Born on March 8, 2006, Zaire-Emery broke into PSG’s first team as a teenager and quickly established himself as one of European football’s most promising midfield talents. His blend of technical ability and tactical awareness is the kind of profile that doesn’t come along often, particularly not at his age.
United’s interest stretching back to 2023 tells you this isn’t a reactionary move. The club has been tracking the midfielder for years as part of a broader strategy to rebuild their engine room. Several other Premier League clubs have also reportedly been monitoring the Frenchman.
