Manchester United has verbally agreed to pay €45 million for Atalanta midfielder Ederson, but the deal is currently sitting in medical limbo. The club completed a first round of intensive tests and has scheduled a second assessment for around July 10, with the entire transfer contingent on the 26-year-old Brazilian passing those checks.
The fee breaks down to €40.5 million guaranteed plus €4.5 million in performance-related bonuses.
The deal structure and what’s holding it up
Ederson, who has been a central figure in Atalanta’s midfield since joining from Salernitana in 2022, reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Manchester United back in June 2026. The second battery of tests, expected around July 10, will be the definitive checkpoint. Manchester United sources have indicated the transfer will only proceed if Ederson clears these assessments.
