Mark Walter, the CEO of Guggenheim Partners and owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, is at the center of a federal investigation examining whether insurance companies under his control hid billions of dollars in related-party transactions from regulators. Grand jury subpoenas issued in February 2026 by prosecutors from the Southern District of New York, working alongside the SEC, have triggered an internal review that forced a staggering reclassification of investment disclosures. Delaware Life Insurance Company’s reported affiliated exposure jumped from roughly 3% to 42% of its portfolio after the internal review. What investigators are looking at The probe centers on Delaware Life Insurance Company and Clear Spring Life and Annuity Company, both managed by entities connected to Walter. Investigators want to know whether these insurers adequately disclosed between $17 billion and $21 billion in investments that should have been classified as related-party transactions.
