Meta launches enterprise AI business, hires former MongoDB CEO to lead it

Meta just made the clearest signal yet that it wants to be more than an advertising company. The social media giant announced a dedicated enterprise AI business and poached Chirantan “CJ” Desai from MongoDB to run it. Desai resigned as MongoDB’s President and CEO on September 28, 2026, the same day Meta unveiled its plans. What Meta is building On September 22, the company launched Muse Code in beta, a coding agent powered by its Muse Spark model. Six days later, it had a new CEO-caliber hire to oversee the broader strategy. Back in June, Meta rolled out Business Agent features for its messaging platforms. These tools are designed to let companies automate customer interactions across WhatsApp and Messenger. Why Desai matters Before taking the top job at MongoDB in November 2025, Desai held significant product and engineering leadership roles at both Cloudflare and ServiceNow, where he contributed to their revenue growth.
