MetaMask is exiting its Ethereum validators in the Lido protocol, according to a post on Lido’s research forum. The stated reason is to address a security incident. What is happening MetaMask Staking operates validators inside Lido’s node operator set. Those validators are now being wound down, with the security incident cited as the trigger. Lido sits in the middle of that arrangement. Users deposit ETH, Lido routes it to a roster of professional node operators, and depositors receive stETH, a token that tracks their staked position and accrues rewards. MetaMask plays a double role here. Beyond running validators, it offers staking interfaces tied to Lido, so users staking ETH through the wallet typically receive stETH as their yield product. Exiting a validator does not happen instantly. For Lido validators, exit cycles typically take somewhere between 15 to 45 days, which gives the protocol time to move funds back in an orderly way. No direct impact on stETH holders has been reported in connection with recent validator exits. This has happened before In September 2025, node operator Kiln carried out precautionary exits after infrastructure compromises, following Lido’s standard ...
