A company that most investors had never heard of two years ago is now consistently appearing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange’s leaderboard for daily trading value. Metaplanet, the Japanese firm that has bet its corporate identity on accumulating Bitcoin, recently ranked 33rd among roughly 4,000 Japanese equities by value traded. From obscurity to the top 1% Metaplanet, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange under ticker 3350, has transformed itself into what is essentially a Bitcoin holding vehicle for public market investors in Japan. That strategic pivot, which accelerated through 2024, has turned the stock into one of the most actively traded names in the country. On standout trading days, Metaplanet has ranked as high as 29th by value traded. During a particularly active session in November 2024, the stock saw roughly ¥21.9 billion (approximately $142 million) change hands in a single day.
