Moonwell Card shuts down September 6 as Cypher acquisition forces users to act fast

If you have a Moonwell Card with a remaining balance, the clock is ticking. The decentralized lending protocol has issued a final reminder to users: withdraw any funds sitting on the card before September 6, 2026, or risk losing access to them entirely. The shutdown follows a chain of events that started in July 2026, when Cypher_HQ_, the infrastructure provider powering the Moonwell Card, was acquired by global payments company Nium. That acquisition effectively killed the card program, since Nium had no interest in continuing it under the new arrangement.
