Navitas teams up with Nvidia to rewire power delivery for AI data centers

AI models get the headlines. The electricity that feeds them gets a footnote. Navitas Semiconductor (Nasdaq: NVTS) wants to make that footnote a lot more efficient. The company is collaborating with Nvidia on power semiconductor solutions built for next-generation 800 VDC architectures, aimed squarely at AI data centers and GPU racks. The partnership was first announced on May 21, 2025. What Navitas is actually building The collaboration leans on two Navitas product lines. GaNFast uses gallium nitride (GaN), and GeneSiC uses silicon carbide (SiC). The headline product is a direct 800 V-to-6 V DC-DC conversion board. Conventional setups running on 48 V and 50 V systems traditionally need intermediate conversion stages. The Navitas board is designed to skip those layovers entirely. The numbers are specific. The board aims to hit peak efficiency of 96.5% to 97.5% at 1 MHz switching frequencies. It also targets power densities of up to 2,100 W/in³. Under the hood, the design uses 16 GaNFast FETs rated at 650 V, with 11–17 mΩ specifications. The resulting board is ultra-low-profile, roughly 20% thinner than a smartphone. The broader 800 V approach also promises material savings. The res...
