OpenAI convenes security leaders ahead of cybersecurity announcement

OpenAI is pulling together some of the most consequential names in cybersecurity ahead of what appears to be a major announcement, continuing a months-long campaign to position itself as a central player in AI-driven defense. The company’s outreach spans federal agencies, allied intelligence networks, and a growing roster of corporate partners, all organized around its increasingly capable cybersecurity-specific models and a $10M commitment to defensive grants. From D.C. demos to Five Eyes briefings Earlier this year, OpenAI hosted roughly 50 federal cybersecurity practitioners in Washington D.C. for a hands-on demonstration of GPT-5.4-Cyber, a model purpose-built for defensive security applications. The event marked the start of a series of briefings extended to allies in the Five Eyes security alliance, the intelligence-sharing partnership between the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
