PSV signs Ayoni Santos from Sparta Rotterdam for €5M in deadline day deal

PSV Eindhoven wrapped up its summer transfer window with a deadline day move for Ayoni Santos, plucking the 21-year-old attacking midfielder from Sparta Rotterdam for a reported fee of approximately €5 million. The deal, completed on September 2, 2026, represents the largest transfer fee Sparta has ever received for a player. Santos signed a contract with PSV running through June 30, 2031, and will wear the number 35 shirt. From youth academy to record sale Santos joined Sparta Rotterdam’s youth setup at the age of nine, growing up in the same city where the club is based. He spent years working through the academy ranks before eventually graduating to Jong Sparta, the club’s reserve side competing in the lower divisions of Dutch football. His breakthrough to the senior squad came in October 2025, when he made his first-team debut. From there, he accumulated 32 appearances for Sparta, registering 2 goals and 1 assist. Santos, born on July 18, 2005, can operate as both an attacking midfielder and a left winger.
