Rangers FC nears signing of goalkeeper Ivor Pandur, and its fan token could feel the ripple

Rangers FC is on the verge of completing a deal for Croatian goalkeeper Ivor Pandur from Hull City, with the player having already undergone a medical in the United States. The expected fee sits around £6 million, a meaningful discount from Hull’s original asking price of £10 million.

The transfer details

Pandur first moved to Hull City in January 2024 for a reported fee of around €2 million. In roughly two and a half years, his value has tripled on paper if the £6 million price tag holds.

Before Hull, the Croatian keeper spent time at Hellas Verona in Serie A and Fortuna Sittard in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Negotiations have also included discussions about a potential player swap involving Jack Butland, Rangers’ current goalkeeper, heading to Hull City. Nothing on that front has been finalized, but the structure suggests both clubs are trying to make the numbers work beyond a simple cash transfer.

Hull originally valued Pandur at £10 million. Getting that down to £6 million represents a 40% reduction. For context, Hull paid roughly €2 million for him, so even at the discounted rate, they’re looking at a substantial return on a player they’ve held for less than three years.

Where crypto enters the picture

Rangers FC has operated the Rangers Fan Token, ticker RFT, since 2021 through a partnership with Bitcichain. The token is designed to give holders a voice in certain club-related decisions.

The Pandur signing itself has no direct connection to RFT. Nobody is paying for the transfer in fan tokens, and holders don’t get a vote on whether the club should sign a Croatian goalkeeper.
