Ray Dalio warns US faces debt crisis in three years without cuts

Ray Dalio thinks the US government is spending like someone who just discovered buy-now-pay-later apps, and the bill is about to come due. The billionaire founder of Bridgewater Associates warned on July 23 that the country could face a full-blown debt crisis within three years if Congress doesn’t get the federal deficit down to 3% of GDP. The problem, in Dalio’s framing, is arithmetic. The US government is on track to spend roughly $7 trillion in fiscal 2026 while pulling in somewhere between $5 trillion and $5.6 trillion in revenue.
