Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan sign mutual defence pact in Mecca

Three countries with a combined population north of 400 million, one set of nuclear weapons, and control over Islam’s holiest sites just locked arms. Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan signed the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement on August 7, formalizing what may be the most consequential security pact in the Middle East in decades.
