Solana co-founder Toly floats a validator stake-weighted oracle to mint SOL against tokenized collateral

Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko has a new idea for squeezing more revenue out of his network. It involves minting fresh SOL, backed by tokenized collateral, with Solana’s own validators acting as the price referees. Yakovenko, known across crypto as Toly, shared the concept in a post on X on October 24, 2026. He called it a validator stake-weighted oracle, which is a mouthful for a fairly intuitive pitch. What Toly actually proposed Start with the oracle part. In crypto, an oracle is a service that tells a blockchain what something is worth in the outside world. Most oracles today are run by dedicated networks. Toly’s twist is to hand that job to Solana’s validators, the operators who already process transactions and secure the chain. The “stake-weighted” part means a validator’s input would count in proportion to how much SOL is staked with it. Think of it as a shareholder vote, where bigger holders get louder voices because they have more to lose. Once validators agree on what a piece of tokenized collateral is worth, the system would mint new SOL against it. The idea is that this minted SOL helps facilitate transactions on the network. Then comes the revenue angle. Under the...
