Standard Chartered steps up digital asset custody offering in Singapore

Standard Chartered is adding digital asset custody services in Singapore, putting crypto and traditional assets under the same regulated framework. What Standard Chartered is building The bank’s custody product keeps client assets segregated and offers statutory protections that mirror those available for traditional assets. Standard Chartered’s digital asset custody services point to USD2.2 trillion in total assets under custody and more than 160 years of institutional experience. Services are set to be offered from other key financial hubs, including the UAE, Luxembourg, and Hong Kong, by mid-2026. The Zodia Custody deal In May 2026, Standard Chartered announced it would acquire Zodia Custody’s regulated custody business, contingent on requisite approvals. Zodia has been supported by SC Ventures, Standard Chartered’s venture arm. Under the plan, its operations would be merged into the bank’s Financing and Securities Services division. Zodia Custody started operating in Singapore in September 2023 and is recognized as a pioneer in bank-backed digital asset custody in the region.
