State Street Corporation just signed an initial agreement to acquire the Santander CACEIS Latam Securities Services business, a joint venture that manages roughly $470 billion in assets under custody and $225 billion in assets under administration. The deal covers operations across Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia, three markets that have become increasingly important for both traditional and digital asset infrastructure. The acquisition, announced on July 28, won’t close until 2027, pending regulatory approvals and employee consultations. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
